YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK. Oct 12 (Interfax) - Russia's Sakhalin Region produced more than 11.5 million tonnes of oil in January-September, an 8.4% year-on-year increase, the regional ministry for natural resources and environmental protection told Interfax.

Oil and gas sector outfits paid more than 18.4 billion rubles in taxes and other payments income into the regional budget, an increase of 34%. "Revenue was up mainly due to the high cost of oil," a ministry representative said.
Sakhalin Region plans to extract 15 million tonnes of oil and 25.32 bcm of gas this year, and to export more than 13 million tonnes of oil and 9.76 million tonnes of LNG.
