Russia posts Jan-Sept federal budget surplus of 2.8% of GDP - ministry

MOSCOW. Oct 13 (Interfax) - Russia posted a federal budget surplus of 1.088 trillion rubles, or 2.8% of GDP, during the period January-September, according to initial figures released by the Russian Finance Ministry.

Jan-Sept budget revenues amounted to 8.211 trillion rubles (79.7% of revenues targeted for this year) and cash spending to 7.123 trillion rubles (64.6%).

The primary federal budget surplus for Jan-Sept 2011 was 1.303 trillion rubles, or 3.4% of GDP, according to initial evaluations.

Oil and gas revenue for Jan-Sept 2011 was 3.99 trillion rubles, or 76.3% of cash revenue for the period; and other revenue came to 4.221 trillion rubles, or 83.2%.

Federal tax revenue was 3.334 trillion rubles, or 80.1% of forecast tax revenue for the year; customs revenue was 4.189 trillion rubles, or 77.2%; and privatization revenue - 97.52 billion rubles, or 91.7%.

Other sources of revenue came to 591.14 billion rubles, or 97.4% of the year's forecast. Not including Reserve Fund and National Welfare Fund resources, it came to 375.62 billion rubles, or 78.7%.

In September, the budget surplus came to 299.01 billion rubles, or 5.9% of GDP, compared to 32.41 billion rubles (0.7% of GDP) in August and 52.75 billion rubles in July (1.2% of GDP).

Budget revenue in September totaled 990.86 billion rubles compared to 986.37 billion rubles in August and 927.46 billion rubles in July.

September cash expenditures amounted to 691.86 billion rubles, compared to 953.96 billion rubles in August and 874.71 billion rubles in July.

Budget revenue does not include cash operations involving customs duties paid in Russia and subject to distribution to the budgets of Customs Union members.
