Dollar gradually gains on MICEX, ruble weakens slightly
MOSCOW. Oct 13 (Interfax) - The U.S. dollar posted moderate gains on the MICEX on Thursday while the euro declined slightly following its losses on the Forex market. The Russian ruble edged down against the Central Bank's bi-currency basket (set at 0.45 euro and $0.55) owing to the worsening situation on capital markets and declining oil prices.
The dollar went up by 13.75 kopecks to close a 31.25 rubels/$1 on the MICEX while the euro closed at 42.81 rubles/EUR1, down 10.75 kopecks.
The bi-currency basket held around 36.44-36.55 rubles for most of the day just above its close on Wednesday. The indicator closed at 36.45 rubles, up three kopecks for the day
The dollar's average weighted exchange rate on MICEX went down by 12.57 kopecks to 31.1927 rubles/$1 in Today deals and went up 0.67 kopecks to 31.2147 rubles/$1 in Tomorrow deals. Combined dollar trading on MICEX amounted to $7.972 billion; of which $1.956 billion were Today deals and $6.0156 billion were Tomorrow deals.
The euro's average weighted rate went up 6.98 kopecks to 42.9763 rubles/EUR1 in Today deals and 4.96 kopecks to 42.9379 rubles/EUR1 in Tomorrow deals. Combined euro trading amounted to 344.8 million euro, of which 141.9 million euro were Today deals and 202.8 million euro were Tomorrow deals.
The overnight MosPrime rate went up by four basis points to 5.38%.
