Kazchrome to retain its 15% share in the ferroalloy global market until 2020
AKTOBE. Oct 14 (Interfax) - JSC Transnational Company Kazchrome is planning to retain its 15% share in the global market of ferroalloys until 2020, said Kazchrome CEO Victor Til.
"Our strategic goal until 2020 is to retain the global market share, which is 15%. This can be achieved through introducing new technologies and improving the existing ones. The main objectives are: energy saving, efficient use of feedstock, chrome and manganese products, increasing the efficiency by 60-70%," he said when presenting the company's investment projects in the Aktobe Region.
Kazchrome, part of Kazakhstan's Eurasia Natural Resources Corporation (ENRC), produced 4.615 million tonnes of chrome ore, up 8% from 2009. Production of saleable chrome ore rose 3.5% and amounted to 3.448 million tonnes. The production of manganese ore totaled 1.021 million tonnes (up 5.3%). Output of manganese concentrate stood at 391,000 tonnes, up 4.3%, ferrochrome at 1.186 tonnes, up 15.5%, and ferroalloys at 1.51 million tonnes, up 19.6%.
Kazchrome operates four business units: Donskoy Mining and Beneficiation Plant (Aktobe region), Kazmarganets (Karaganda region), Aksu Ferroalloy Plant (Pavlodar region) and Aktobe Ferroalloy Plant (Aktobe region).
