Ukraine's industrial output up 8.6% in 9M

KYIV. Oct 17 (Interfax) - Ukraine's industrial output grew 8.6% in January-September 2011, Ukraine's State Statistics Service said.

In September, the country's industrial output rose 6.4%, a slower rate of growth than in August (9.6%), July (8.7%), June (8.9%) and May (8.6%).

Industrial output fell 0.3% in September compared to August.

Industrial output was highest in machine building - up 20.4%. In chemicals and petrochemicals, output grew 18.2%; in timber processing and metallurgy - 11.7%, and in light industry - 9.3%.

At the same time, food, beverage and tobacco production fell 2.2% in the nine months.

Industrial output in the mining industry grew 6.7%, and in electricity, gas and water distribution - 6.2%.

Ukraine's industrial output grew 11% in 2010, including 11.1% in January-September 2010.
