Belarussian industrial production grows 10.6% in Jan-Sept
MINSK. Oct 19 (Interfax) - Industrial production in Belarus grew 10.6% year-on-year in real terms in the first nine months of 2011, and measured Br206.7 trillion in current prices, the National Statistics Committee, or Belstat told Interfax.
The target growth rate for 2011 is 9-10%.
Industrial production in September rose 7.4% year-on-year and 1.1% from the previous month.
Belstat reported that production in the nine months grew 2.3% to Br3.14 trillion in extractive industries, with fossil fuel production slumping 0.5% to Br2.18 trillion and production of other minerals growing 5.6% to Br960.4 billion.
The manufacturing sector expanded by 12.1% to Br187.863 trillion. Production grew 10.8% to Br15.32 trillion in metallurgy, 13.9% to Br18.3 trillion in machinery and equipment and 32.7% to Br11.07 trillion in vehicles and other transportation equipment.
Output in electricity, gas and water supply slumped 3.5% to Br15.67 trillion.
The country boosted production of coke, oil products and nuclear materials by 21.1% to Br38.75 trillion. Production in the chemicals industry rose 3.3% to Br20.63 trillion.
The country produced 1.261 million tonnes of oil in the nine months and 163.9 million cubic meters of associated gas, respectively 0.8% less and 1.1% more year-on-year. Production of gasoline slumped 0.9% to 2.177 million tonnes, but diesel fuel output jumped 22.6% to 4.666 million tonnes.
Production of mineral fertilizer increased 2.8% to 4.93 million tonnes, with potash production rising 3.5% to 4.17 million tonnes.
Production also rose 4.8% to 2.1 million tonnes of steel; 76.2% to 16,100 trucks; 12.8% to 1,569 buses; and 41.5% to 47,100 tractors.
Belarusian industrial production grew 11.3% in real terms in 2010, and measured Br161.9 trillion in current prices. This fell within the forecast of 10-12% growth.
