China crude steel output down 3.49 pct in September - WSA
Shanghai. October 24. INTERFAX-CHINA - China's crude steel output fell 3.49 percent on a monthly basis in September to 56.70 million tons, reflecting the wider slowdown in the world's second largest economy in the third quarter, according to monthly production figures released by the World Steel Association (WSA) Oct. 21.
The country's output increased by 16.50 percent on a yearly basis and accounted for 45.89 percent of total global production during the month, according to the figures.
Meanwhile, a trend for decreasing production was evident last month across the 64 countries that report to the WSA, with aggregate output edging down 0.82 percent from August to 123.57 million tons, though up 9.70 percent on an annual basis.
Europe and Oceania were the only places to see monthly increases, while Asia, the world's largest production region, saw output drop 3.04 percent month-on-month to 78.81 million tons, up 12.90 percent on an annual basis.
