Customs Union countries import more cars in Jan-Aug 2011
MOSCOW. Oct 24 (Interfax) - Customs Union countries, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia, increased imports of new and second hand cars 90.1% in value terms to $14.1 billion, Customs Union materials show.
Belarus received more than half of the imports, Kazakhstan - 15.8% and Russia - 2.15%.
The biggest suppliers to the Customs Union states were Japan ($4.24 billion, up 58% on 2010), Germany ($2.39 billion, up 140%), Britain ($1.19 billion, up 120%), South Korea ($839.5 million, up 38%), the United States ($519.6 million, up 82%), the Czech Republic ($371.4 million, up 400%), Spain ($278.8 million, up 150%), Turkey ($261.5 million, up 58.5%), and Slovakia ($213.9 million, up 79%).
Car exports from Customs Union countries increased 80% in value terms to $283.2 million.
Exports went mostly to Ukraine ($178.8 million, up 170% against 2010), Azerbaijan ($52.41 million, up 40%), Latvia ($9.41 million, up 80%), Kyrgyzstan ($6.95 million, up 130%), Hungary ($5.62 million, up 60%), Uzbekistan ($4.66 million, up 7%), Germany ($3.12 million, up 270%), Democratic People's Republic of Korea ($2.8 million) and Lithuania ($2.45 million, up 50% on 2010).
