MMK boosts steel output 8% in Q3

MOSCOW. Oct 25 (Interfax) - Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) boosted crude steel output 8% year-on-year to 3.18 million tonnes and finished steel product output 11% to 2.95 million tonnes in Q3 2011, the company said in a trading update.

MMK intends to increase finished steel output by 10-15% in 2011 compared to 2010. "This growth will be driven by increased demand for MMK products from major steel-consuming sectors in Russia and by [Turkey-based] MMK Metalurji ramping up to full production capacity," the company said.

The company said at the end of last year that it planned to raise crude steel output 14% and finished steel output 17% in 2011.
