SOCAR to finish compressor station for low-pressure Gunashli gas by Dec

BAKU. Oct 26 (Interfax) - State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) will by the end of next month complete the construction of a compressor station to handle low-pressure gas at platform #4 over the shallow-water part of the Gunashli field, a SOCAR statement says.

"At the present time, the compressor station is undergoing completion and final adjustment work. All the technological installations and equipment are in a state of readiness. The plan is for the facility to go into operation before the end of November," the statement says.

This compressor station is equipped with two gas-turbine units with productive capacity of 2 million cubic meters of gas each. Gas pressure on approach to the station will be 2-2.5 atmospheres, on exit - 17 atmospheres.

The client for this facility is the oil and gas production division of 28 May, and the general subcontractor for the work is the trust Neftegazstroy. The construction is being done under a project by the institution Neftqazelmtaqiqatlayiha and the company Prosernat.

"After the station is put into operation, the associated gas released into the atmosphere at shallow-water Gunashli will be collected completely and sent to gas compressor station #2 at the Neftyaniye Kamni deposits, and from there, after being taken to a pressure of 55 atmospheres, will be transported to shore," the statement says.

The shallow-water part of the Gunashli field has been in development since 1980. The deposit accounts for as much as 65% of all SOCAR oil production. Remaining reserves are estimated at about 180 million tonnes of oil and 65 billion cubic meters of gas.
