Prices go up again in Belarus

MINSK. Nov 1 (Interfax) - The prices and tariffs for individual goods and services rose in Belarus on November 1, 2011.

The charge for one public transport journey went up from 950 to 1,300 Belarusian rubles (from $0.11 to $0.15), or by 36.8% in Minsk, and by 300 Belarusian rubles to 1,100 ($0.13) in district and regional centers.

The price of a single express bus ticket may be as high as 1,800 Belarusian rubles ($0.20), while the charge for a journey on an ordinary urban bus may amount to 220 Belarusian rubles ($0.03) per kilometer.

The charge for traveling by mini buses will not be regulated anymore, international railway services have become more pricy and higher tariffs have been introduced for housing utility services.

New excises will be levied on beer, alcohol products and fuel between November 1 and December 31, 2011, which will lead to higher retail prices.

Some mobile phone operators have increase charges for their services, and the rest will recalculate the charges at the end of the month.

Pensions will increase by an average of 22% in November.
