Ukraine might increase coal output by 5%-6.5% in 2012 - Energy Ministry

KYIV. Nov 2 (Interfax) - Ukraine plans to produce 81 million-82 million tonnes of coal in 2012, Energy and Coal Minister Yuriy Boyko said during an expanded session of the Cabinet of Ministers with the participation of President Viktor Yanukovych in Kyiv on Wednesday.

He said that Ukrainian coal production enterprises might produce around 77 million tonnes of coal this year. Therefore, coal production next year might increase by 5%-6.5%.

Ukraine's coal production enterprises increased output by 4% last year (by 2.863 million tonnes) to 75.166 million tonnes in comparison with 2009.
