BRICS ready to help eurozone with credits - Lavrov
MOSCOW. Nov 7 (Interfax) - The BRICS countries are ready to provide their financial resources to help the eurozone, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"Our countries will be ready to take part in common efforts, including by providing loans according to the routes and channels that exist in the International Monetary Fund," Lavrov told a briefing in Moscow on Monday after meeting with his Irish counterpart.
The informal international association BRICS comprises Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.
At the same time, he reiterated that "a problem related to the financial stability and integrity of not only the eurozone, but the world financial system, the economy, can hardly be resolved just by providing money."
"The recent events show that the consequences of the 2008 crisis have not been overcome yet and the work started by the G20 immediately after the crisis has not been completed yet," Lavrov said.
Irish Foreign Minister Eamon Gilmore, in turn, said Ireland has no intention of leaving the eurozone, adding that he believes people are regaining confidence in the eurozone despite the recent problems.
