Russia might take part in modernization of enterprises in India - Ivanov

MOSCOW. Nov 18 (Interfax) - India will prepare a roster of enterprises at which Russian companies may take part in modernization efforts, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov said at the 17th session of the Russo-Indian Intergovernmental Commission for Trade-Economic, Scientific-Technical, and Cultural Partnership.

Ivanov said that a wide variety of facilities had been built in India with the participation of Soviet specialists, including industrial enterprises, which definitely are now in need of upgrades.

He also said that Russia has already passed on a list of Russian technological platforms to India with contact information about companies involved in related development work.

Ivanov added that the Russo-Indian Summit will take place in Russia in a month. Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is expected to visit Russia for this summit.

During the visit of the Indian delegation at the session, the working group for partnership in energy and energy efficiency convened. The Russian part of the working group is headed by Deputy Energy Minister Dan Belenky. The Indian part of the group is headed by the country's joint secretary for the Ministry for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Vivek Kumar, Russia's Energy Ministry said.

Both sides discussed partnership between Rosneft and Indian oil and gas corporation ONGC Videsh Ltd in Russia. They also noted that the development of LNG supply (liquefied natural gas) to India has been successful. Four shipments of LNG (two LNG shipments each to the companies GSPC and GAIL) have been made since the start of the year.
