KazTransGas subsidiary to open 3 fields of Amangeldy group in 2013

ALMATY. Nov 21 (Interfax) - KazTransGas subsidiary LLC Amangeldy Gas plans to commission three fields belonging to the Amangeldy group - Zharkum, Airakty and Anabay (Zhambyl region) - in 2013, the company told Interfax.

Work has begun at the Airakty field on restoring abandoned wells, as a result of which reserves will be recalculated taking future development into account. Geological exploration has been completed at the Zharkum field, and reserves are currently being calculated to prepare them for industrial development.

As a result of this work, yearly gas production at the Amangeldy group's fields will grow to 500-550 million cubic meters. The company plans to produce 323.6 million cubic meters of gas in 2011.

LLC Amangeldy Gas was created by KazTransGas (which is part of KazMunayGas) to operate the Amangeldy field.

The Amangeldy gas condensate field, discovered in 1975, is located within the Moiynkum and Talas regions, 170 kilometers north of Taraz (the administrative center of the Zhambyl region). In October 2003, the field entered into test production with five gas producing wells. Currently, its operating well stock is 26. Initially, the field produced over 2.4 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas and 200,000 tonnes of gas condensate.

Produced gas is fed through the mainline of the gas pipeline Amangeldy CS-5 to Taraz, and gas condensate - to the Amangeldy refinery.

The Amangeldy group includes the Amangeldy, Zharkum, Airakty and Anabay, Kumyly, Koskuduk and Sultankuduk fields.

Last year, production at the group totaled 344.1 million cubic meters of gas and 24,150 tonnes of condensate.
