Dollar drops sharply, ruble gains on MICEX after news of decrease in dollar swap values
MOSCOW. Nov 30 (Interfax) - The U.S. dollar fellow below 31 rubles on the MICEX for the first time since November 22 while the ruble posted gains against the Central Bank's bi-currency basket (set at 0.55 and 0.45 euro) after news that the value of dollar swaps by the U.S. Fed and four other Central Banks has been reduced.
By 5:09 pm Moscow time, the dollar came to 30.86 rubles/$1 on the MICEX, which is 43 kopecks below its close on Tuesday. The euro went down by 28 kopecks to 41.48 rubles/EUR1. The bi-currency basket went down by 36 kopecks to 35.64 rubles.
