Gazprom starts producing gas at Nydinsky section

MOSCOW. Dec 1 (Interfax) - Gazprom has started producing gas and gas condensate at the Nydinsky section of the Medvezhye field, the company said in a statement.

The company has commissioned a full gas treatment complex and 20 wells. Once another seven wells have been commissioned, the section will reach design capacity of 23 billion cubic meters gas and 5,000 tonnes condensate per year in 2012.

Production at core giant fields is falling at a rate of 30-40 bcm per year, and Gazprom is finding more and more difficult to meet peak winter demand. As of the middle of this year, Gazprom's current output fell below last year's level.

Meanwhile, demand in Russia and Europe continues to grow. The launch of the next big production asset - the Bovanenkovskoye gas condensate field - is scheduled for next summer. But it will take several more years to reach a production plateau.

Gazprom deputy chief executive Alexander Ananenkov said in the statement that the company is "steadily putting new production facilities into operation in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District."

"We are effectively using the potential of the existing deposits of the Nadym-Pur-Tazov region by tapping deeper deposits than traditional Cenomanian ones. This last spring production began from Valanginian deposits of the giant Zapolyarnoye field, and today we have begun producing gas from the Aptian-Albian deposits of another giant field - Medvezhye," Ananenkov said.

The Medvezhye gas condensate field, located in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, is being developed by wholly-owned subsidiary LLC Gazprom Dobycha Nadym.

Gazprom on April 7, 2011 launched production of gas and gas condensate from the Valanginian deposits of the Zapolyarnoye gas condensate field in Yamalo-Nenets, which is being developed by wholly-owned subsidiary LLC Gazprom Dobycha Yamburg.

In the period from 2001 to 2011, Gazprom launched new production capacity with combined annual design production capacity of more than 230 bcm of gas:

Aneryakhinskaya section of the Yamburg field - 10 bcm of gas per year;

Vyngayakhinskoye field - 5 bcm of gas per year;

Yen - Yakhinskoye field - 5 bcm of gas per year;

Yety - Purovskoye field - 15 bcm of gas per year;

Zapolyarnoye field (Cenomanian deposits) - 100 bcm of gas per year;

Zapolyarnoye field (Valanginian deposits) - 6.5 bcm of gas per year;

West Pestsovaya section of Urengoi field - 2 bcm of gas per year;

Pestsovaya section of Urengoi field - 27.5 bcm of gas per year;

Tab - Yakhinskoye section of Urengoi field - 5 bcm of gas per year;

Kharvutinskaya section of Yamburg field - 25 bcm of gas per year;

Yuzhno-Russkoye field - 25 bcm of gas per year;

Yareiskoye section of Yamsoveiskoye field - 1.25 bcm of gas per year;

Second section of Achimov deposits at Urengoi field - 3.5 bcm of gas per year;

Cenomanian hydrocarbon deposits are found at a depth of 1,100-1,700 meters, Aptian-Albian and Valanginian (Neocomian) deposits lie at 1,700-3,200 meters, and Achimov deposits are found at about 4,000 meters.
