Election victory enables United Russia to carry on course of Putin, Medvedev

MOSCOW. Dec 5 (Interfax) - The parliamentary election victory gives United Russia the right to continue its political and economic course, United Russia General Council Presidium Secretary Sergei Neverov told a Monday press conference at the Interfax main office.

"We affirm that the United Russia party has the moral right to carry on the course of President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, which has been defined," he said.

United Russia aspires for 238 out of 450 parliament seats, Neverov said. It noted that the party had won the elections of regional parliaments in 27 constituencies of the Russian Federation.

"We formed the majority in 24 regions, i.e. won two-thirds of regional parliament seats," he said.
