Georgia boosts industrial output 25.5% in 9M

TBILISI. Dec 7 (Interfax) - Industrial output in Georgia increased 25.5% year-on-year in January-September 2011 to 4.871 billion lari, the country's National Statistics Service reported.

In Q3 2011, industrial production totaled 1.491 billion lari, up 23.8% year-on-year.

In January-September 2011, enterprises in the mining and extraction industry produced 221.5 million lari worth of product (up 16.8%), in the manufacturing industry - 3.138 billion lari worth (up 27.9%), and in utilities - 728 million lari worth (up 18.6%).

Turnover at Georgian industrial organizations in the nine months came to 4.695 billion lari, 26% more year-on-year. Turnover in the mining and extraction industry came to 200.9 million lari (up 7.3%), in manufacturing - 3.283 billion lari (up 26.2%), and in utilities - 1.211 billion lari (up 29.1%).

There were 91,200 employed in industry in Georgia as of October 1, 2011. That was 4% more than a year previously. Average monthly wages in industry increased 84 lari to 716.5 lari (up 13.3%).
