MICEX Index falls below 1400 points
MOSCOW. Dec 9 (Interfax) - The MICEX Index fell below the 1400-point mark on Friday due to Western sales on the negative situation in Europe and concerns over an escalation of political pressure in Russia.
By 11:32 a.m. Moscow time, the MICEX index had fallen to 1392.3 points (-4.4%), and the RTS index had fallen to 1409.46 points (-4.4%) - a two-week low. The majority of benchmark stocks had fallen by up to 7%.
Losers on the MICEX Stock Exchange included FGC UES (-7.2%), Polyus Gold (-6.7%), MMC Norilsk Nickel (-5.6%) and OJSC Rostelecom (-5.3%).
