Tengizchevroil refinery fire out
ASTANA. Dec 9 (Interfax) - The fire at Tengizchevroil's gas refinery has been extinguished, the Kazakh Emergency Situations Ministry reported.
A propane installation had caught fire Thursday morning, involving an area of 108 square meters, but had been put out by midday, the ministry said. Two hundred fifteen people had to be evacuated, but there were no casualties.
The plant is back to normal technological operations.
Tengizchevroil develops the Tengiz and Korolyov oil and gas fields in the Atyrau region (western Kazakhstan). The joint venture is currently owned by Chevron (50%), ExxonMobil Kazakhstan Ventures Inc. (25%), KazMunayGas national company (20%) and the Russian-American joint venture LUKArco (5%).
