Budget Avtovaz car to go on sale in Russia on Dec 22

SAMARA. Dec 15 (Interfax) - Russian auto manufacturer Avtovaz has started delivering Lada Granta cars to dealers in order to launch sales on December 22 2011, the company said in a press release.

"Virtually all the cars produced in 2011 will be sent to those who booked preliminary orders on the granta.lada.ru website and signed an official agreement with a dealer," the release says.

All cars ordered by consumers will be delivered within the earlier announced term of December 2011 to March 2012, inclusive.

"All the cars will be sold at the Avtovaz guaranteed price when the preliminary agreement was signed of 229,000 rubles for the standard version and 256,000 for the 'norm' version," the release says.

Avtovaz on November 29 began commercial production of a new budget car on the platform of the Kalina - Lada Granta. The car was created to replace the classic Samara and Kalina sedan models. The plant may produce around 150,000 Granta cars in 2012 (including the IzhAuto site). Commercial production of the cars in Izhevsk could be launched in mid-2012.
