Russia ready to face any scenario of world economic development - Medvedev

MOSCOW. Dec 16 (Interfax) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said Russia is ready to face any scenario of world economic development.

"I have just returned from Brussels. People are not in the best mood there. We have to be ready for different scenarios, but we are now ready for anything," Medvedev said during a meeting with Anton Siluanov, whom he has appointed finance minister, on Friday.

Siluanov has confirmed that "the situation in the world, especially in Europe, remains uncertain."

"We are preparing for various scenarios," he said.

"This year, we plan on getting additional revenues due to a good market situation and a good revenue level," he said.

"We are ready to face anything. From a legal viewpoint, we have mechanisms that could be used at any moment, and from the point of view of the reserves that we have accumulated and that can be used when they are needed," the president said.

Siluanov, in turn, said: "We have prepared all regulations for a possible deterioration of the [financial and economic] situation and we are ready to adopt them if the situation deteriorates."

Siluanov reiterated that the situation is now much better than it was before the first wave of the crisis in terms of the adoption of the necessary legal acts. "In 2009, we spent too much time working on them. Now they are ready and we will be ready to adopt them," he said.

"We have also envisioned the possibility of the use of guarantees for the realization of possible anti-crisis measures," Siluanov said.

Siluanov said he is confident that "we should create a certain reserve."

Siluanov said a regulation is now being prepared to ensure that the law on the budget begins working in the first days of 2012.

"All ministries and agencies have received the necessary limits of funding that can be spent beginning from the first day of 2012," he said.

"I think everything will be OK," Medvedev said.
