Trade Minister Khristenko to step down on Feb 1

MOSCOW. Dec 19 (Interfax) - Russian Industry and Trade Minister Viktor Khristenko will resign his post on February 1, 2012, due to his appointment as Chairman of the Collegium of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

"The decision has been signed, I must leave the office as of February 1," Khristenko told journalists.

When asked about his replacement, Khristenko said it will be a "worthy" one. He said he believes that he prepared a good staff reserve during his time in office.

Khristenko was appointed as the Collegium Chairman at a session of the Community's Supreme Eurasian Economic Council on Monday.
