Lukoil commissions photovoltaic electricity plant in Bulgaria
MOSCOW. Dec 20 (Interfax) - OJSC Lukoil has commissioned a photovoltaic electricity plant in Bulgaria on a test regime, the company said in a statement.
The facility is located on the outskirts of the Bulgarian city of Burgas on a site measuring over 2.5 hectares. The station's installed capacity comes to 1.25 megawatts. Electricity produced at the facilities will be sold on the open market with a preferred tariff for photoelectric output for 12 years.
The preferred tariff for this type of production is more than four times higher than the market price for electricity provided to industrial producers.
Total emissions and greenhouse gases from the station's operations will be 1,600 tonnes less a year in comparison with traditional heat generation units for electricity operating with the same capacity.
LLC Lukoil-Ekoenergo manages the facility. The company was formed in 2011 for the purposes of developing projects in alternative energy.
