Kyiv ready to discuss synchronous ratification of FTZ agreement
MOSCOW. Dec 20 (Interfax) - Ukraine is ready to consider synchronous ratification of an agreement regarding the free trade zone (FTZ), Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych said.
"Ukraine is ready to discuss the question of synchronous ratification of this agreement which was adopted," Yanukovych said at an informal meeting of the CIS council of the heads of states which opened in Moscow.
He asked Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to put the matter to discussion.
Yanukovych also confirmed Ukraine's intention to take active part in the CIS work. Noting that the CIS has proved viable, he said that this format should "at least" be maintained and work on improving the CIS should be carried out.
Work on the long awaited FTZ agreement has continued, Yanukovych said.
