Storchak confident in stability of dollar, doubts regularity of euro
MOSCOW. Dec 26 (Interfax) - The dollar is likely to remain stable against the vast majority of foreign currencies, but such an optimistic forecast does not apply to the euro, Russian Deputy Finance Minister Sergei Storchak said at a press conference on Monday.
"The dollar is likely to remain stable against the overwhelming majority of currencies. I think that the dollar won't fluctuate dramatically. But with respect to the euro, it's impossible to give such an optimistic forecast," he said.
No one can yet say how the situation will develop on the markets after the approval of a plan for settling Greece's debt, or how the private sector will participate in this settlement, he said.
"Very much will depend on the nuances of the menu of possibilities for commercial banks, which cannot but be offered by the structures that are finalizing work over a scheme of settling the sovereign debt crisis in Greece," Storchak said.
