New president and government to approve system of regional governance - Medvedev

MOSCOW. Dec 26 (Interfax) - The appearance of ministers for territorial affairs or broader powers of presidential representatives is being discussed but no final decision has been made, President Dmitry Medvedev said at the Monday meeting of the State Council, which discussed the decentralization of power.

"The new administration - the new president and the new federal government - will choose the future configuration of the federal executive authorities," Medvedev said.

It is necessary to think about the system of governance in Russian regions, he added.

"In other words, there is an idea of appointing ministers for territorial affairs or granting additional powers to presidential representatives. I want the colleagues to know that we are discussing that," he said.

No final decision has been made so far, Medvedev said.
