China's Geely eyes car-building in Belarus
MINSK. Dec 27 (Interfax) - Geely Automobile Holdings Ltd. of China is showing interest in setting up car production in Belarus, and this subject was recently discussed during a meeting involving company management and Belarusian Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich, Belarus's governmental press service told Interfax.
"During a product presentation, the Chinese company's president, Yang Jian, expressed preparedness to develop cooperation in the launching of new capacity at a Belarusian enterprise," the press service said.
Geely Automobile Holdings Ltd. builds more than thirty auto models in such lines as EMGRAND, GLEAGLE, and ENGLON, powered by 1 to 1.8-liter engines boasting both automatic and manual transmissions. It produced 416,000 vehicles last year, including 56,200 outside China.
