Court decides to collect 1.7 bln rubles from Uralkali, registrar in Silvinit shareholder lawsuit
PERM. Dec 27 (Interfax) - The Arbitration Court of the Perm Territory has fully satisfied the claim of minority shareholder in Russian potash miner OJSC Silvinit Anatoly Lomakin and decided to jointly recover 1.702 billion rubles in damages from the loss of stock from Uralkali and CJSC Computershare Registrar, an Interfax correspondent reported from the courtroom.
In January, Lomakin turned to the court with a claim to recover 1.285 billion rubles from Computershare Registrar and Silvinit for a loss of his Silvinit stock. Later, he upped his claim to 1.702 billion rubles.
The court had ordered several expert handwriting analyses, which were necessary to determine whether the documents that served as a basis for writing off Lomakin's shares from his account were signed by Lomakin or someone else.
Lomakin previously owned around 1.06% of Silvinit's shares. In September 2010, he discovered that around 0.6% of his stake had changed hands. In his declaration to the court, Lomakin said that these shares were written off from his account in June due to the fraudulent activity of an unidentified individual.
Lomakin was previously ex-head of Silvinit Pyotr Kondrashov's main business partner in the company. The two men owned a controlling stake in the company.
Uralkali and Silvinit completed their merger in the second quarter of this year.
