DTEK signs electricity supply contracts with EDF, CEZ
KYIV. Dec 28 (Interfax) - DTEK Power Trade, which is part of Ukraine's largest private vertically integrated energy holding company DTEK, has signed contracts with major European energy traders EDF Trading (France) and CEZ Slovensko (Czech Republic) for electricity supplies in 2012, DTEK said in a press release.
The documents signed regulate supplies of Ukrainian electricity to Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Romania. The volume of the supplies was not disclosed.
DTEK was established in 2005 to manage the energy assets of Rinat Akhmetov's System Capital Management group (SCM, Donetsk). The energy holding is responsible for strategic management of the companies within the group, comprising a vertically integrated chain of coal mining and enrichment and electricity production and distribution.
DTEK has since 2011 been the main exporter of Ukrainian electricity. The companies within the holding exported 2.14 million kilowatt hours of electricity in the first half of 2011, up 740% year-on-year.
DTEK Power Trade was established in February 2009 to develop electricity exports and trade on European and CIS target markets.
