Russian stock market slides Wednesday afternoon amid decline of European indices
MOSCOW. Jan 4 (Interfax) - The Russian stock market that took a side drift Wednesday morning started sliding in the afternoon amid declining European stock indices and world oil prices.
As at 1 p.m. Moscow time the MICEX stock index stood at 1438.52 points (-0.43%), and the RTS index at 1431.59 points (-0.18%). The majority of benchmark stocks slipped within 1.1%
MICEX saw the decline of equities of Severstal (-0.9%), Surgutneftegaz (-1.1%), Rostelecom (-1%), Lukoil (-1%), VTB (-0.1%), and Gazprom (-0.8%) while Sberbank remained in positive territory (+0.7%) along with RusHydro (+0.15%), Polyus Zoloto (+0.7%), Rosneft (+0.8%) and Uralkaly (+0.2%).
