Kemerovo Azot increases caprolactam output 15% in 2011
KEMEROVO. Jan 12 (Interfax) - Kemerovo-based OJSC Azot , which is part of the holding company Siberian Business Union, produced 111,852 tonnes of caprolactam in 2011, the company told Interfax.
The company said that caprolactam output came to 97,430 tonnes in 2010. Therefore, this type of production increased in 2011 by 14.8%.
Ammonia output increased by 6% to 1,071,791 tonnes, carbamide - up 4.27% to 574,295 tonnes, and ammonia nitrate - up 2.97% to 879,929 tonnes.
The increase in the company's output has been the result of equipment modernization, the implementation of investment projects and reductions in production costs.
The Administration of the Kemerovo Region said in a press release that the Azot plant's share of total atmospheric emissions comes to no more than 4%. The administration said that the enterprise's average emission rate per tonne of production has decreased by over 80% in recent years.
Kemerovo-based Azot is a major supplier of ammonia nitrate and carbamide for Russia's domestic market. The company supplies around 80% of ammonia nitrate to agricultural and industrial consumers in Siberia and Russia's Far East.
CJSC Siberian Business Union (SDS) was formed in August 2004. The company manages assets through sector-specific holdings - SDS-Ugol, SDS-Mash, Novotrans, SDS-Stroy SDS-Alko, SDS-Media Holding, and SDS-Energo. According to the SPARK database the biggest shareholder in the company is its president, Mikhail Fedyaev, with a 33.3% stake.
