SOCAR produces 22,000 tonnes of oil, 7 mln cu m of gas at Garachuhur in 2011

BAKU. Jan 16 (Interfax) - The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) produced 22,455 tonnes of oil and 7.134 million cubic meters of gas from the Garachuhur field in 2011, SOCAR told Interfax.

"In 2011, 22,455 tonnes of oil were produced from the Garachuhur field, which is 2.5% more than planned. Gas production during the reporting period totaled 7.134 million cubic meters, which is 36.1% higher than planned," the company said.

Technical provisions were performed on 150 wells throughout the year, which provided for an additional 268.7 tonnes of oil. In addition, geological provisions were carried out on 19 wells, resulting in an additional 1,990 tonnes of oil production.

Underground repairs were made on 600 wells in 2011, and capital repairs were performed on 25 wells. The Garachuhur field's performance stock is currently made up of 126 wells, including 59 operating wells and 67 inactive.

The Garachuhur field is located 15 kilometers north-east of Baku. It is currently being developed by the oil-producing enterprise Garachuhur PA Azneft. The field's recoverable reserves are estimated at 5.528 million tonnes of oil and 1.151 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas.
