Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat to start making acrylic acid by 2015

UFA. Jan 17 (Interfax) - OJSC Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat will be finishing a complex for the making of acrylic acid by 2015 that will make it possible for the company to enter the domestic market for paints and varnishes and personal hygiene products, a company statement says.

"The realization of the project will continue the start of creating at Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat of a new sector of Russian industry, and the production of final products will make it possible to take a serious towards import replacement," the statement says.

The production of acrylic acid will take place at the plant Monomer, one of the four making up Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries will submit the basic project for the complex to the company in the second half of this year. Then design work, equipment delivery and installation, and personnel training will commence.

"The general subcontractor for the construction will be OJSC Salavatneftekhimremstroy, which unites major Bashkortostan building forces, and equipment orders will be received by OJSC Salavatneftemash," a company representative said.

The complex will be operating at rated capacity in the fourth quarter of 2015. Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat plants to build up a future technological chain for the processing of acrylic acid and acrylics.
