Fire breaks out at Surgutneftegas field in Khanty-Mansiisk, no one injured
KHANTY-MANSIISK. Jan 17 (Interfax) - An oil blow-out resulted in a fire at booster pump station N4 of the Yaunlorskoye field belonging to Surgutneftegas in the Khanty-Mansiisk Autonomous District on Tuesday morning, but no one was injured or killed, the district office of the Emergency Situations Ministry said.
Surgutneftegas' oil production division Surgutneft is developing the Yaunlorskoye field.
The Emergency Situations Ministry said that it received notification of the fire at 11:10 a.m. local time (9:10 a.m. Moscow time).
"Seven divisions of the Fedorov Garrison fire department immediately arrived at the scene of the accident. Upon arrival, they observed oil spillage with burning on an area of 50-100 square meters," the ministry said.
The fire was extinguished at 11:55 a.m. local time. "The booster pump station is currently disabled and the valves are covered. The people have been evacuated," it said.
The Surgutneftegas press service told Interfax that the cause of the fire is being investigated.
"Work is being done at the site. The oil spill has been fully contained, and no oil spilled onto adjoining territory. There were no casualties. A special commission will establish the reasons," a press service spokesperson said.
