Greece experiencing problems with gas supply through Turkey, boosts purchases from Gazprom

MOSCOW. Jan 26 (Interfax) - Greece, which has been experiencing serious problems with gas supply coming through Turkey because of cold temperatures, has a pressing need to purchase additional gas outside of earlier contracted obligations, Gazprom spokesman Sergei Kupriyanov told journalists on Thursday.

Greece receives gas through Turkey originating form Azerbaijan, which, following the launch of the Shah-Deniz field, has become a competitor with Gazprom's gas in the south of Europe.

"Gazprom has been meeting this request in full measure. Gazprom has repeatedly responded to the immediate requests of its partners, by increasing supply above daily contracted volumes," Kupriyanov said.
