Moscow budget second only to New York's
MOSCOW. Feb 1 (Interfax) - By size the budget of the Russian capital is second only to that of New York City, according to the Open Moscow Budget portal (www.budget.mos.ru).
New York has a budget of $65.91 billion and a population of 8.18 million. Moscow's budget is $50.8 billion (11.51 million people), the website said.
New York and Moscow are followed by London ($20.6 billion and 7.83 million people), Paris ($11.3 billion and 2.2 million people), Los Angeles ($6.9 billion and 3.86 million people) and Madrid ($5.9 billion and 3.27 million people).
The Moscow budget revenues will be 1.459 trillion rubles in 2012, 1.562 trillion rubles in 2013 and 1.724 trillion rubles in 2014, according to the website. The budget spending will be 1.712 trillion, 1.804 trillion and 1.945 trillion, respectively.
As of January 31, 2012, the Moscow budget has surpassed its revenue target by 2.9% and spending target by 2.5%.
