Ukraine ups electricity output 0.4%, consumption drops 1.5% in Jan
KYIV. Feb 6 (Interfax) - United Energy System of Ukraine produced 0.4% more electricity in January 2012 compared to January 2011 at 18.45 billion kilowatt hours, the Energy and Coal Ministry said in a press release.
Combined heat and power plants increased electricity production 8.1% in January to 8.49 billion kilowatt hours, nuclear power plants reduced production 0.9% to 8.35 billion kilowatt hours, block plants and utility plants saw a 1.2% drop to 895.1 million kilowatt hours and hydro power plants - 40.4% to 706 million kilowatt hours.
Electricity consumption fell 1.5% to 17.86 billion kilowatt hours.
United Energy System of Ukraine produced 3.2% more electricity in 2011 at 193.89 billion kilowatt hours.
