Ukrainian producer prices down 0.8% in January - State Statistics Service
KYIV. Feb 6 (Interfax) - Prices in Ukrainian industry fell 0.8% month-on-month in January of this year, including a 4.9% drop in the extractive industries and a 0.4% decline in manufacturing, Ukraine's State Statistics Service reported on Monday.
In December of last year, Ukrainian producer prices decreased 1.8%, whereas in November they were up 0.6%.
Compared to January of last year, producer prices had grown 11.8%.
In Ukraine's mineral extraction sector (excluding fuel and energy), producer prices were down 11.8% in January of this year, including a 14% drop in iron ore production prices. In fuel and energy extraction, producer prices grew 3.5%, including a 5.7% increase in oil production prices.
Ukrainian manufacturing saw the largest producer price drops (1.9%-0.6%) in chemicals production, transport and equipment production, coke production, refined petroleum products and metallurgical production.
In food production, beverage and tobacco producer prices were down 0.1%, including a 3.2% drop in tobacco production prices, a 0.8% fall in butter and animal fat production prices, a 0.5% decrease in dairy production prices, a 0.3% reduction in pasta production prices, and a 0.2% decline in flour and cereal production prices. Meanwhile, production prices for tea, coffee and beverages grew by 3.2% and 0.8%, respectively.
Producer prices for utilities distribution (electricity, gas and water) were up 0.4%, including a 0.8% increase in heat production prices and a 0.4% boost in electricity production prices.
