Rostvertol to build Mi-2A helicopter plant in China

MOSCOW. Feb 6 (Interfax) - Russian helicopter manufacturer Rostvertol has signed a cooperation agreement with China's Hebei Xi'Ao Aeroplane Manufacturing Co. to work together and build a Mi-2A plant in Northern China that will produce 100 helicopters per year, Xinhua News Agency reportec citing the Chinese company and local authorities in Hebei Province.

The new plant is to be completed by the end of July in Pingguan, Hebei. "The plant will also be a repairs center for Mi helicopters in the Asian region," the agency said.

Investment in the first phase of the plant is estimated at 1.4 billion yuan ($224 million), Xinhua said, citing the Hebei Xi'Ao Aeroplane Manufacturing website.

Rostvertol is one of Russia's biggest helicopter manufacturers, producing Mi-24/35 transport and combat helicopters, Mi-26T heavy transport helicopters and Mi-28h new generation attack helicopters.
