Higher disposable income one of Russia's key goals - Putin

MOSCOW. Feb 7 (Interfax) - Raising the disposable income in Russia is one of our key goals, said Russian Prime Minister and presidential candidate Vladimir Putin.

"As long as our income per capita significantly lags behind that of the developed economies, we cannot feel calm," Putin said at a meeting with his campaign representatives.

He cited data whereby personal disposable income in Russia should rise by approximately 0.8%. "We cannot feel satisfactorily in this situation," the prime minister said.

"It is not enough to pay attention to the economy. What is needed is for the whole society to be efficient, and that requires the development of state institutions, the social sector, and education," he said.

"This requires us to do even more in terms of our external security, to fulfill our defense and security plans, to ensure food security," the Russian prime minister said.
