Gas price for Lithuania to depend on consumption - Gazprom

VILNIUS/MOSCOW. Feb 10 (Interfax) - The price Lithuania will pay for gas will depend particularly on how much is delivered, which still does not meet expectations, says a statement from OJSC Gazprom , which is Lithuania's sole supplier.

"Our company holds consultations with Lithuania (Lietuvos dujos) on a regular basis, both relative to potential volumes of natural gas delivery and the price for it. The volume of purchased gas by Lithuanian consumers that the company Lietuvos dujos supplies still does not correspond with the possibilities of the Lithuanian market and expectations on the part of Russia, which cannot but influence the level of pricing," the statement says.

"The formula for Russian natural gas prices existing now and fixed since 2008 that is used by the parties for settlements for Gazprom deliveries to Lithuania is absolutely market. Such formulas are accepted by the European gas business and take the particulars of each national market for natural gas into account. Lietuvos dujos is one of five gas buyers Gazprom has for Lithuania," the company said.
