Ruble up against dollar, euro on Monday
MOSCOW. Feb 13 (Interfax) - The Russian ruble strengthened against the dollar and euro on the MICEX on Monday amid growth in world oil prices and stock markets after Greece adopted a program to cut state spending.
The dollar closed the day on the Moscow Interbank Currency Exchange (MICEX) down 18 kopecks at 29.9 rubles/$1, while the euro fell 9.58 kopecks to 39.5742 rubles/EUR1.
The bi-currency basket ($0.55 and EUR0.45) decreased 15 kopecks to 34.25 rubles.
The Central Bank lowered its official dollar and euro rate on Monday. Its dollar rate edged down by 0.5 kopecks to 29.8873 rubles/$1, and its euro rate was down 2.45 kopecks to 39.6037 rubles/EUR1.
The dollar averaged down 2.25 kopecks to 29.8698 rubles/$1 in Today deals on the MICEX and 7.81 kopecks to 29.8784 rubles/$1 in Tom deals. Overall trading volume was $5.101 billion, including $1.371 billion Today and $3.73 billion Tom.
The euro fell 3.45 kopecks to 39.6097 rubles/EUR1 in Today deals and 5.68 kopecks to 39.6092 rubles/EUR1 in Tom deals in volume of EUR411.342 million, including EUR177.007 million Today and EUR234.335 million Tom.
The MosPrime rate for overnight loans rose 4 basis points to 4.56%.
