Namibia interested in bringing Rosgeologiya to work on its territory

MOSCOW. Feb 17 (Interfax) - Namibian Foreign Affairs Minister Utoni Nujoma is interested in OJSC Rosgeologiya's activities for carrying out geological exploration work in Namibia, the Russian Natural Resources Ministry said in a statement.

Nujoma expressed this interest to Russian Natural Resources Minister Yury Trutnev during a meeting of the Russia-Namibia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.

Trutnev and Nujoma also discussed plans for Russian companies to participate in new electricity projects in Namibia. At the moment, the possibility of joining Namibia's fuel and energy market is being worked through, as is the participation of such major Russian companies as OJSC Inter RAO UES , OJSC Technopromexport and OJSC RusHydro in constructing power stations, including equipping minor hydro-electric power plants (HPP).

Several Russian companies, including OJSC Russian Helicopters and OJSC United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), are still interested in working in Namibia's civil aviation industry.

The next Russia-Namibia commission meeting will be held in Moscow in 2013.

The Russian presidential decree to create Rosgeologiya was issued in July of last year. The holding includes 37 state geological enterprises that operate on Russian territory, 24 of which are open joint-stock companies (OJSC) and 13 of which are federal state unitary enterprises (FSUE). Rosgeologiya's charter capital will include shares of these OJSC and the corporatized FSUE.
