BasEl Aero airports up passenger flow 15% in Jan
KRASNODAR. Feb 20 (Interfax) - The BasEl Aero group saw its airports boost passenger flow 15% year-on-year to 307,000 people in January, the company told Interfax.
This growth was facilitated by an influx of tourists during the New Year holidays.
BasEl Aero's airports completed 1,800 flights in January, including 414 international trips.
The Krasnodar Airport upped passenger traffic 19% in January to 176,000 people, and the Sochi Airport saw passenger flow rise 11% to 117,000 people. Passenger traffic at the Anapa Airport, which underwent runway reconstruction in January-June 2011, totaled 9,000 people in January.
Meanwhile, passenger traffic was down 20% at the Gelendzhik Airport to 5,000 people.
The Yeysk Airport is currently closed down for runway reconstruction being carried out on an order of the Russian Defense Ministry.
BasEl's airports processed 1,000 tonnes of freight and mail in January, or about the same amount as in January of last year.
In 2011, BasEl Aero's airports serviced 5.367 million passengers, or 24% more than in 2010.
BasEl Aero, founded in 2007, is part of the Basic Element (BasEl) group. It manages airports in Krasnodar, Sochi, Gelendzhik, Anapa and Yeysk.
