New draft treaty on gas cooperation submitted to Ukraine - Naryshkin
KYIV. Feb 20 (Interfax) - Russia's Energy Ministry has submitted to Ukraine a new draft treaty on gas cooperation, State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin, who is in Kyiv on a working visit, told reporters on Monday.
Intensive consultations are under way, above all at a ministerial level, he said.
"The Energy Ministry has handed over to the Ukrainian side a new draft treaty to be discussed during future consultations and talks," the speaker said.
The gas issue was touched upon during his meetings with Ukrainian officials, he said.
On Monday, Naryshkin met Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, National Security and Defense Council head Andriy Kluyev and Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Lytvin.
