Miratorg to invest 10 bln to 2019 in Kursk region
KURSK. Feb 22 (Interfax) - Miratorg, one of Russia's leading meat producers, will invest 10 billion rubles to 2019 in the construction of 10 pork complexes in Sudzhan, Oboyan and adjacent districts in Kursk region, the regional administration's information and press committee said in a press release.
Kursk regional administration and Miratorg on Tuesday signed an investment agreement for 2012-2018.
Miratorg President Viktor Linnik said at the signing ceremony that cooperation with the region was a strategic step for the company. "Production cost is competitive so even when Russia joins the WTO we will continue to invest in Kursk region," the release cites Linnik as saying.
Miratorg plans over the next two years to expand crop areas to 25,000 to 30,000 hectares from 8,000 hectares. The number of employees working in the grain company will increase to 700.
Miratorg currently has the pork complex Pristenskiy and Pristenskaya Grain Company working in Kursk region.
Miratorg is implementing projects in Pristensky district, Kursk, at a cost of 7 billion rubles to build 4 pig farms that can keep over 200,000 pigs and produce over 50,000 tonnes of pork in live-weight annually
Three sow farms were launched in November 2011 and a fourth was launched in 2012. Eight sites for feeding and finishing are to be completed this year.
Miratorg was established in 1995. It is owned by the brothers Alexander and Viktor Linnik. Alexander Linnik is the company's board chairman.
