Russia reduces fertilizer output 13% to 1.46 mln tonnes in Jan - Rosstat

MOSCOW. Feb 22 (Interfax) - Mineral fertilizer output in Russia went down by 12.6% year-on-year to 1.464 million tonnes in January 2012, Russian state statistics service Rosstat said on Wednesday.

For instance, production of nitrogenous fertilizers went down 2% to 730,000 tonnes, phosphorus fertilizers - 4% to 282,000 tonnes and potash - 29% to 452,000 tonnes.

Ammonia output went down 8% to 1.167 million tonnes. Production of sulphuric acid went up 4% to 1.003 million tonnes, sodium carbonate - 5% to 252,000 tonnes, and caustic soda - 3% to 93,700 tonnes.

Production of main chemical substances in Russia went down by 6% year-on-year in January 2012.
