NOVATEK to announce tender for LNG plant construction in Yamal in March-April
MOSCOW. March 2 (Interfax) - Gas major NOVATEK plans to announce a tender for an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to build a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant under the Yamal-LNG project in March or April, NOVATEK's co-owner and CEO Leonid Mikhelson told journalists.
The company favors a high level of Russian company participation in the plant's construction, he said. NOVATEK wants to wrap up the tender procedures in October or November, before the final investment decision is made on the project, which is scheduled for the end of this year, he said.
The front end engineering and design (FEED) company Chicago Bridge & Iron Company N.V. will not enjoy an advantage over other contestants in the tender, Mikhelson said.
As reported, Chicago Bridge & Iron Company N.V. was selected by Yamal LNG to work up a FEED project. CB&I brought on board its international partners - Chiyoda of Japan and Italy's Saipem - as well as the Russian design institute NIPIgazpererabotka.
